Kevin Choquette

Founder

Mr. Choquette founded Fident Capital in 2005 to serve middle-market commercial property developers and investors. His innate curiosity and tenacity have helped him secure over $395 million of equity and debt financing for clients in the Southwest United States.

Following the 2008 downturn, Mr. Choquette became a minority partner in a firm that flipped and aggregated single-family residences. The operation’s peak flip inventory contained over $20MM of product and cumulative sales exceeded $140MM. Under his leadership, the firm secured a $30MM equity commitment for aggregation of a single-family rental portfolio.

Prior to starting Fident Capital, Mr. Choquette was an associate at La Jolla Capital Partners. His underwriting approach redefined the manner in which the company presented opportunities to the market, expanding capital sources and earning the company valuable new business. Prior to La Jolla Capital Partners, Mr. Choquette held senior management positions with two venture-backed internet-music industry companies in the San Francisco Bay area.

Mr. Choquette holds an MBA from the University of Colorado at Denver and is a licensed California Real Estate Broker. He is an active member of Urban Land Institute and holds a seat on the Revitalization and Reuse Committee, an active participant and Board Member for the San Diego chapter of Entrepreneur’s Organization (E.O.), and is enrolled in the Entrepreneurial Master’s Program at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

 

Brian Ronquillo

Vice President

Mr. Ronquillo joined Fident Capital in 2013. As a Vice President, he plays an integral role in all aspects of both equity and debt placement. Additionally, with a natural disposition to systems, process, and strategy, Mr. Ronquillo creates and manages internal systems that drive company operations and refine execution methodologies.

Prior to Fident Capital, Mr. Ronquillo led an acquisition team at Vaerus Homes, a boutique real estate investment company, in the purchase of over $100MM in distressed single-family assets, purchasing over 420 single-family homes at trustee sales, REOs, and Short Sales for both quick flip and long-term investment. His investment decisions helped delivered over 20% annualized returns to equity partners.

Previous to Vaerus, Mr. Ronquillo served as a Vice President of Acquisitions at RedHill Realty Investors, a private investment firm specializing in multi-family value-add and opportunistic investments. At RedHill, he managed acquisition activities within the Pacific Northwest region, including sourcing investment opportunities and structuring institutional joint venture partnerships. He also engaged in strategic planning within the company’s Capital Markets Group.

Mr. Ronquillo holds both a JD and an MBA from the University of San Diego and a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Butler University. He is a California Real Estate Broker and a member of the Urban Land Institute.

 

Gregg Foster

Managing Director

Gregg Foster is the Managing Director of Fident Capital. He has an extensive background in finance, acquisition, entitlement, and disposition of real estate in all asset classes, as well as intensive consulting in the distressed asset and business turnaround arenas totaling more than $1.2 billion in value over the course of his career.
Mr. Foster began his career in commercial banking with Wells Fargo Bank. In 1999, he entered the homebuilding industry where he went on to hold high-level management roles encompassing the greater Southern California marketplace for John Laing Homes, Steadfast Companies, William Lyon Homes, and Sabal Financial Group.

Prior to joining Fident, Mr. Foster founded Halifax Group, a multi-disciplinary real estate consulting and development company, where he successfully executed asset management and disposition projects valued in excess of $400 million on behalf of builder/developers, banking institutions, court appointed receivers, and equity providers for more than 10 years. Halifax also managed complex superior court cases related to going concerns throughout the Southwest.

Mr. Foster holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Medieval History from the University of San Diego. He is a member of the Urban Land Institute, the Downtown San Diego Partnership, serves as a board member of the Foster Family Foundation, and is a former Board Member and supporter of Guardian Group, a non-profit organization leading the fight against Human Trafficking in the United States.

 

Silva Kanerva

Executive Assistant

Ms. Kanerva joined Fident Capital in 2014. As an Executive Assistant, she is responsible for a variety of duties including administrative work, accounting, and human resources. When necessary, she assists with market research & analysis and deal-closing coordination. Additionally, she manages the company’s marketing and PR efforts and produces content, including social media posts, blogs, and email campaigns.

Prior to Fident Capital, Ms. Kanerva was the Manager of Operations at Knexient, Inc., a software startup located in Palo Alto, CA. In addition to overseeing operations for the company, she managed the company’s financials and was heavily involved in business development and marketing. During her time at Knexient, she participated in various commercialization efforts, including drafting an 8-page executive summary, creating marketing documents, and brainstorming product development. She worked closely with a team of three to use Knexient’s patented search technology to create a working prototype of a mobile newsreader application.

Ms. Kanerva holds a bachelor’s degree in Economics from UC San Diego.
